Nurture Forward Foundation (NFF) is committed to maintaining high standards of integrity, accountability, respect, safety, professionalism, and responsible stewardship in all its activities.

This Code of Conduct establishes the standards of behavior expected from all persons acting on behalf of or in association with NFF, including Board of Trustees members, officers, staff, volunteers, consultants, interns, mentors, facilitators, contractors, and other authorized representatives.

The Code reflects NFF’s Core Values and supports the Foundation’s commitment to nurturing lives, empowering families, strengthening communities, and protecting the dignity and wellbeing of all people with whom NFF works.

2. Scope

This Code applies to conduct occurring during NFF programs, meetings, school and community activities, partnerships, travel, online activities, communications, events, mentoring, global learning programs, and other activities carried out under the name of NFF.

Everyone representing NFF is expected to understand and comply with this Code.

3. Respect, Dignity and Non-Discrimination

NFF representatives shall treat every person with dignity, fairness, courtesy, and respect.

Discrimination, intimidation, bullying, humiliation, harassment, retaliation, exploitation, or abusive conduct will not be tolerated.

NFF promotes inclusion and equitable participation regardless of gender, age, disability, economic circumstances, social background, or other status protected under applicable law.

4. Protection of Children, Youth and Vulnerable Persons

NFF places the safety and wellbeing of children, youth, and vulnerable persons at the center of its work.

All representatives must:

maintain appropriate professional boundaries;

avoid behavior that may expose a child or participant to harm, exploitation, abuse, neglect, or inappropriate contact;

never engage in sexual exploitation, abuse, grooming, harassment, or exchange of assistance, opportunities, money, gifts, or favors for sexual or inappropriate personal benefit;

respect confidentiality and privacy;

follow NFF safeguarding procedures;

and report safeguarding concerns promptly through appropriate channels.

The best interests, safety, dignity, and rights of children and young people shall guide NFF activities.

5. Integrity and Ethical Conduct

All persons representing NFF shall act honestly, transparently, and in good faith.

Fraud, corruption, bribery, theft, falsification of records, misrepresentation, misuse of resources, money laundering, kickbacks, favoritism for improper benefit, or other unethical conduct are prohibited.

NFF representatives must not use their position, organizational information, relationships, or resources for improper personal gain.

6. Conflict of Interest

Board members, officers, staff, volunteers, consultants, and other representatives must disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest.

Individuals must not participate in decisions where personal, family, financial, professional, or other interests could improperly influence their judgment.

Conflicts shall be managed according to NFF’s Conflict of Interest Policy.

7. Financial Stewardship

NFF resources must be used only for legitimate organizational and program purposes.

All expenditures must be properly authorized, documented, recorded, and supported by appropriate financial records.

Individuals involved in financial transactions must follow NFF’s Financial Management Policy, grant requirements, applicable laws, and donor conditions.

Organizational assets, funds, equipment, intellectual property, and other resources must be protected from misuse or unauthorized use.

8. Confidentiality and Privacy

NFF representatives must protect confidential information relating to children, youth, families, participants, partners, donors, staff, volunteers, and the organization.

Personal information should be collected, stored, shared, and used only for legitimate purposes.

Information about beneficiaries or participants must not be disclosed publicly without appropriate consent or lawful justification.

Particular care must be taken with photographs, health information, safeguarding matters, personal stories, and information concerning minors.

9. Professional Relationships and Boundaries

NFF representatives must maintain appropriate and respectful relationships with beneficiaries, students, families, colleagues, partners, and community members.

No person may exploit an NFF relationship for personal, financial, sexual, political, or other improper advantage.

Mentoring and coaching relationships must remain professional, supportive, and consistent with safeguarding requirements.

10. Responsible Communication and Digital Conduct

All communications made on behalf of NFF should be accurate, respectful, professional, and consistent with NFF’s mission.

NFF representatives must use digital platforms, social media, artificial intelligence, communication technologies, and organizational information responsibly.

They must not knowingly spread misinformation, expose confidential information, engage in cyberbullying or harassment, or use NFF platforms for unauthorized personal purposes.

Technology should be used to advance learning, communication, safety, innovation, and responsible participation.

11. Partnerships and Representation

Persons representing NFF must accurately describe the Foundation, its programs, partnerships, accomplishments, and capacity.

No individual may make unauthorized commitments, financial promises, agreements, or public statements on behalf of NFF.

Partners and collaborators are expected to respect NFF’s ethical and safeguarding standards when participating in NFF-supported activities.

12. Gifts, Benefits and Improper Influence

NFF representatives must not solicit or accept gifts, payments, favors, or benefits that could influence—or appear to influence—their professional judgment.

Reasonable culturally appropriate tokens may be accepted where permitted, provided they do not create an obligation, conflict of interest, or appearance of improper influence.

13. Harassment, Sexual Exploitation and Abuse

NFF maintains zero tolerance for sexual exploitation and abuse.

Sexual harassment, sexual coercion, exploitation, abuse of authority, inappropriate sexual relationships involving beneficiaries, and retaliation against persons reporting concerns are prohibited.

Any allegation must be taken seriously, handled confidentially, and referred through appropriate safeguarding or legal procedures.

14. Reporting Concerns

Anyone who becomes aware of suspected misconduct, safeguarding violations, fraud, corruption, abuse, exploitation, harassment, or serious breaches of this Code should report the matter through NFF’s designated reporting channels.

Reports should be handled confidentially and fairly.

NFF prohibits retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.

15. Accountability and Consequences

Violations of this Code may result in corrective or disciplinary action, removal from an assignment or program, termination of an organizational relationship, referral to the Board of Trustees, or reporting to competent authorities where required.

Actions taken will depend on the seriousness and circumstances of the violation and applicable laws and policies.

16. Duty to Cooperate

All NFF representatives are expected to cooperate honestly with internal reviews, safeguarding assessments, audits, investigations, and other legitimate accountability processes.

Records must not be concealed, altered, or destroyed to obstruct a review or investigation.

17. Commitment

All persons acting on behalf of NFF are expected to uphold this Code and contribute to a culture of safety, integrity, accountability, inclusion, learning, and respect.

By accepting a role with NFF, each individual accepts responsibility for protecting the Foundation’s mission, reputation, beneficiaries, resources, and public trust
